Also, there are shown some future prospects of this phenomenon and potential directions for enhancing the situation in this area. In this paper, after delving in a very brief history of “street children” phenomenon, the main legislative acts related to street children of Moldova are analyzed and current situation described. Thanks to coordinated efforts of state institutions the number of street children by 2012 reduced significantly, but after optimization measures in state institutions that were related to protection of these children’s rights the problem resurfaced.
